Second Looks
I have learned from my husband to take a second look. On a drive I see cars, he sees the little girl on a bus with a body that doesn’t work unable to get her neck back in the brace as her head bounces to the side. On a ride at Universal Studios I see a line, he sees a patient father who waited with his young son only to find out his son’s atrophied legs were too weak to ride and lovingly carried him off. In the midst of life so many amazing people who endure hardships and sometimes I miss them in a hurry to get somewhere. My heart is full because we all have these stories, some visible but many are not. These realities we carry are sometimes easy to miss but they are what make us unique. Here’s to taking more second looks.
